CCS/CCSAM Fall Dryland Camp - October 4-6

Here is the information on the upcoming CCS Fall Dryland Camp in Moose Mountain Provincial Park, on October 4 - 6, 2024.

For those who have never made the trip to Moose Mountain (Kenosee Lake) in the southeast corner of our province, here are some of the reasons why it is a special place:

  • beautiful lakeside setting

  • quiet resort town in the shoulder season, with quiet roads and paved asphalt campground loops appropriate for rollerski

  •  a great big parking lot for an epic rollerski agility course

  •  rolling hiking trails in the trees

  •  great camping and accommodation amenities

  • "peak fall" golden leaf conditions in early October

  •  lots of green park space for games and other activities.

The Regina Ski Club has used Moose Mountain Provincial Park as a venue for their club's regional training camp in recent years, but it is the first time (in recent memory at least) that a CCS Provincial Dryland Camp will be hosted there.

Another exciting change this year is holding the camp in conjunction with the Cross Country Ski Association of Manitoba (CCSAM) so there will be lots of new faces involved in the form of Manitoban athletes and coaches.

Stephen Novosad from Nordiq Canada who some of you may recognize from his trips to Saskatchewan in previous years, will also be in attendance

2024 Fall Moose Mountain Camp Notice

 Zone4 Camp Registration

Ages

As described in the Camp Notice, the training camp is open to athletes U12 to U23 who are current members of a cross country ski club.

Group Campgrounds

Two group campgrounds have been booked in Moose Mountain Provincial Park on behalf of the group. During the Zone4 registration process you may indicate that you will be camping at the group site, which will add $20 to your order, or you may indicate that you are arranging your own accommodation.

The park washroom building and shower building will remain open for the camp, which will make camping in the shoulder season a bit more comfortable.

Activity Schedule

At the moment the activity schedule in the Camp Notice describes A LOT of different activities. These are all of the options that the organizers are considering and the activities schedule will be narrowed down prior to the camp, based on weather forecast, camp registrants, etc.

Coaches

Since this is a joint camp with CCSAM there will also be Manitoban coaches in attendance, as well as Stephen Novosad from Nordiq Canada.

Coaches and parents looking to be involved should register on Zone4 as well by selecting the "Coach, Chaperone, or Volunteer" registration option.
