Sask Cup 1 and 2 scheduled for La Ronge this weekend has been postponed. See below for a message from the club.
We have decided to postpone Sask Cup 1 and 2 until Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22, 2023.
The forecasted temperatures for Saturday, December 17 are too cold for U12 and under and borderline for the older racers. The forecasted temperatures for Sunday, December 18 are too cold for all racers. We hope that the weather cooperates for us to hold a Tier 2 event in January.
An updated race notice will be distributed in the New Year. For those wanting a refund and are not able/willing to attend the races on January 21 and 22, please email gabe.andrews@usask.ca to make a formal request.
*We are scheduled to host SWG Team North Trials on Saturday, January 21. We will now combine the trials with the Sask. Cup race on Saturday, January 21.

Save the Date - Leve 2 Officials Course
When: January 28-29, 2023

What: Level 2 Officials Course
Prerequisite: Level 2 requires previous Level 1 certification; you can take the Level 1 course on-line (see attached course instructions). The link to Nordiq Canada’s E-Learning site for Officials is https://cccofficials.moonami.com Look for the Level 1 Officials Training – English or French link. Level 1 Instructions
Registration: Will be set up later in November; a follow-up email will be sent with instructions as well as posted on the CCS website.
Who should take this course and why?
This course is designed to train Level 1 Cross Country Ski Officials to the Level 2 category. Level 2 Officials at a race event are the “Chiefs” who are responsible for small volunteer teams (e.g. “Chief of Start”, Chief of Stadium, etc). Attendees may also want to be more knowledgeable as a race volunteer without necessarily being in a Chief role.
It is important that clubs who wish to host future Sask Cup races or Provincial Championships continue to develop Level 1 Officials (for their individual roles as race volunteers), Level 2 Officials (race chiefs/supervisors) and Level 3 Officials (for Chief of Competition/Technical Delegate roles). Having knowledgeable and experienced volunteer Officials is a Cross Country Saskatchewan and Nordiq Canada expectation of host clubs – to assure delivery of an excellent race experience for the athletes.
CCS will be hosting a camp in Lake Louise from November 14-18. The camp is open to skiers U14 and up. Click here for more information.
The Regina Ski Club and the Preeceville Nordic Ski Club will be hosting a dryland camp for competitive skiers in the U12 and U14 categories. Click here for more information.
CCS will once again be hosting a fall training camp in Waskesiu. Click here for the notice. More info will be posted in the coming weeks.

Hi racers
Save the date of July 16, 17 for an intensive weekend of focused roller ski training geared towards CWG and potential provincial team athletes. Goals for this two day camp will be skill development in both classical and skate roller ski techniques and for the purpose of centralization and roller ski facilities, Saskatoon will be the location. This weekend we will also be rolling out the provincial team criteria but if you cannot make the camp, no big deal as the team criteria will be emailed out to everyone and attendance at the camp is not mandatory for CWG or the Provincial Team.
See the attached schedule for camp details.
Registration will be setup via Zone 4 by June 30th.

The usual double-header loppet event in the northwest has been changed to a one day event in Ile-a-la Crosse only! Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Buffalo Narrows event that was previously planned for Saturday, March 12th will not occur this year. The loppet on March 13th in Ile-a-la Crosse will go ahead as planned, giving participants a splendid variety of skiing through finely groomed Boreal Forest trails. The event will include during ski support (fires, hot drinks and food), draw prizes and tons of fun. See attached poster for details! Don't be dismayed by the event being cancelled in Buffalo Narrows...you can still travel up and check out their amazing trails on the Saturday, you just won't be eating hot farmer's sausage and sipping apple cider while you do it (unless you bring your own)!
